Return Policy

Returns at a glance

We want you to end up with the right part. If a unit you bought from JDM Motors of Illinois is not what you need, you may return it under the conditions below, provided it has not been installed and is still in resalable condition.

Return window

We do not issue refunds on non-defective units, so we cannot accept a return simply because you changed your mind or ordered the wrong part. Returns are accepted where the unit is defective under the warranty, or where we shipped the wrong or an incomplete item. A return request must reach us before your warranty period expires. If the unit has already been installed and has developed a fault, the matter is handled under our Warranty Policy instead of this policy.

What can be returned

To qualify for a return, the item must be:

  • Uninstalled — never fitted to a vehicle, and never run
  • Free of fluids that were added after delivery, and free of any evidence of attempted starting
  • Complete, with every accessory, bracket, sensor and component it was supplied with
  • Undamaged, unmodified, not disassembled, not machined and not painted
  • Carrying our original stock number tag and any identification markings intact

What cannot be returned

  • Units that have been installed, started or partially installed
  • Items sold as-is, as cores, as untested or for parts only
  • Special-order items and units sourced specifically to your request
  • Items with removed, altered or illegible stock number tags
  • Items damaged after delivery, including damage during removal or during the return shipment when the buyer arranged it

How to start a return

  1. Contact us at (708) 223-0238 or jdmotorsofillinois@gmail.com with your order number, the stock number of the unit and the reason for return. Photographs of the unit as it currently sits are helpful.
  2. We will confirm whether the item qualifies and, if it does, issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number.
  3. Write the RMA number clearly on the paperwork attached to the pallet. Shipments sent back without an RMA number may be refused at the dock.
  4. Repackage the unit on a pallet, strapped and wrapped to at least the standard in which it arrived. The buyer is responsible for return packaging adequate to protect the unit in transit.
  5. Ship to the address we give you on the RMA, or deliver in person to 3040 S 26th Ave, Unit B, Broadview, IL 60155 during business hours.

Return shipping costs

If the return is because we shipped the wrong item, or the item was materially different from its description, we cover return freight and there is no restocking fee. If the return is for any other reason — you ordered the wrong unit, the project changed, you found another option — return freight is the buyer’s responsibility and the original outbound shipping charge is not refunded.

Restocking fee

Orders refused on delivery, and returns we agree to outside the warranty, are subject to a restocking fee of 35% of the item price. Returned units must be fully assembled and complete, and you are responsible for the return freight. This covers inspection, re-testing, re-cleaning and re-listing of the unit. No restocking fee applies where the return results from our error.

Inspection and refunds

Every returned unit is inspected on arrival. If it meets the conditions above, we issue a refund to the original payment method, less any applicable restocking fee and shipping charges. Refunds are processed once the unit has passed inspection; the time it then takes to appear on your statement depends on your bank or card issuer.

If a returned unit does not meet the conditions — it shows signs of installation, it is missing components, or it has been damaged — we will contact you with photographs and options before taking any further step. You may choose to have the unit returned to you at your expense, or to accept a reduced refund reflecting the condition.

Wrong, missing or damaged items

If you receive the wrong item, an incomplete shipment, or a unit damaged in transit, contact us as soon as you discover it. Freight damage must also be noted on the carrier’s delivery receipt at the time of delivery — see our Shipping Policy for what to do at the truck.

Cancellations

If your order has not yet shipped, see our Cancellation Policy — cancelling before dispatch is usually simpler and cheaper than returning.
