Warranty Policy
Limited warranty
JDM Motors of Illinois, LLC ("we", "us") provides a limited warranty on tested used engines and transmissions purchased from us. This policy explains what is covered, what is not, and what you need to do to make a claim. It applies to purchases made through our online store, by phone and in person at our Broadview, Illinois facility.
Coverage period
Standard tested engines and transmissions are warranted for 30 to 90 days; the period that applies to your unit is stated on your invoice. Engines fitted with a turbocharger or supercharger carry a 30 day limited warranty covering internal head and block components only. Rotary engines and transmissions are sold as-is and carry no warranty. Coverage begins on the date of purchase, or for shipped orders on the confirmed delivery date. The period runs from that date, not from the date of installation, and the unit must be installed within the warranty period.
What is covered
This warranty covers internal mechanical failure of the unit as supplied. For engines, that means the internally lubricated components inside the block and cylinder head — crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, rings, bearings, camshafts, valves and oil pump. For transmissions, it covers the internal gears, shafts, bearings and synchronizers, and for automatics the internal hard parts of the case.
If a covered failure occurs within the warranty period and the conditions below are met, our obligation is, at our option, to repair the unit, replace it with a comparable unit subject to availability, or refund the purchase price of the unit. Replacement or refund is the sole and exclusive remedy under this warranty.
What is not covered
- Bolt-on accessories and external components, including but not limited to the alternator, starter, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor, water pump, distributor, coils, injectors, sensors, wiring and electrical parts
- Gaskets, seals, hoses, belts, spark plugs, filters, clutch components, flywheels, flexplates, torque converters and other wear or service items
- Turbochargers, superchargers and their associated plumbing, unless expressly covered in writing on your invoice
- Any item sold as-is, as a core, as untested, or for parts only
- Damage caused by overheating, oil starvation, low or contaminated fluids, detonation, over-revving, incorrect timing, incorrect fuel, or running the unit with a known fault
- Damage caused by improper installation, incorrect fitment, modification, racing or competition use, or use in an application the unit was not designed for
- Failures arising from pre-existing faults in the receiving vehicle, such as a failed cooling system, fuel delivery problem, faulty ECU or damaged wiring
- Labor, removal and reinstallation costs, towing, rental vehicles, diagnostic time, freight on the vehicle, lost income and any other incidental or consequential loss
Conditions you must meet
Coverage is conditional on all of the following:
- The unit is installed by a licensed or professionally qualified mechanic, and you retain the installation invoice.
- All fluids, filters, gaskets, seals, timing belt or chain components, tensioners and the water pump are replaced with new parts at the time of installation, and the cooling system is verified as serviceable.
- The unit is not disassembled, modified, machined or repaired by anyone other than us or a party we authorize in writing before the claim is resolved.
- The unit is used in a normal street application, not in racing, competition, off-road competition, commercial towing beyond manufacturer ratings, or any forced-induction conversion not agreed with us in writing.
- The original invoice, stock number and any identification tags applied by us remain intact and legible.
Failure to meet any of these conditions voids this warranty.
How to make a claim
- Stop using the vehicle as soon as a fault appears. Continuing to run a failing engine almost always turns a repairable fault into a total loss and can void the claim.
- Contact us as soon as you suspect a fault, and in every case before your warranty period expires, at (708) 223-0238 or jdmotorsofillinois@gmail.com. Have your order number, invoice and the unit stock number ready.
- Send us the installation invoice, a written description of the fault from the installing mechanic, and any diagnostic results, photographs or video that support the claim.
- Wait for our written authorization before removing, disassembling or returning the unit. We may ask for additional diagnosis, and we may require the unit to be returned to our Broadview facility for inspection at our direction.
- Once we have inspected the unit and confirmed a covered failure, we will advise whether the claim will be settled by repair, replacement or refund.
Transferability
This warranty is extended to the original purchaser only and is not transferable to a subsequent owner of the part or of the vehicle it is installed in.
Disclaimer of other warranties
Except as expressly stated in this policy, and to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, all other warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, are disclaimed. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties, so parts of this paragraph may not apply to you. Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under applicable law that cannot be waived by agreement.
