Shipping Policy
Where we ship
JDM Motors of Illinois ships nationwide across the United States. Orders are dispatched from our facility at 3040 S 26th Ave, Unit B, Broadview, IL 60155. We do not currently ship internationally. If you need delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or another US territory, contact us for a quote before ordering, as transit times and rates differ significantly.
How engines and transmissions travel
Complete engines and transmissions are too heavy for parcel carriers. They are secured to a pallet, strapped, wrapped and moved by freight carrier on an LTL ("less than truckload") service, which means your pallet shares trailer space with other shipments and passes through the carrier’s terminal network. Crating is used where the unit, the route or the destination calls for it, and can be added on request — ask us before you order.
Smaller parts and accessories that fit safely in a box ship by standard parcel carrier. Larger or multi-unit orders may move as dedicated freight. We choose the method based on weight, dimensions and destination and confirm it on your shipping notification.
Processing time
Orders are normally prepared and released to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days of payment clearing, though busy periods and holidays can extend that. Units that need additional testing, crating or a matching part sourced may take longer; if that applies to your order we will tell you when you order, not after.
Transit time
Freight transit across the continental United States typically runs several business days depending on distance and the carrier’s routing. Transit times are estimates provided by the carrier, not guarantees. Weather, terminal congestion, holidays and carrier backlogs can extend them, and those delays are outside our control.
Delivery: what to expect
- Commercial addresses with a dock are easiest. If you can have the pallet delivered to a repair shop or a business with a loading dock or forklift, do so — it is faster and usually cheaper.
- Residential delivery is possible but costs more. Residential delivery and liftgate service carry additional carrier charges. Tell us at the time of order if you need them so they can be quoted correctly. Charges added after dispatch because the delivery type was not disclosed are the buyer’s responsibility.
- Appointment delivery. Freight carriers normally call ahead to arrange a delivery window. Make sure the phone number on your order is one you will actually answer — missed appointments lead to storage fees and redelivery charges.
- Unloading. Unless you have purchased liftgate service, you are responsible for getting the pallet off the truck. Have a forklift, a dock or suitable equipment and help ready.
Inspect before you sign
This is the most important paragraph on this page. Once you sign a clean delivery receipt, the carrier’s liability for visible damage is effectively closed and a claim becomes very hard to win.
- Walk around the pallet before signing. Look for torn wrap, broken straps, a shifted or leaning unit, fork punctures, crushed corners, oil on the pallet and any impact marks.
- If you see anything wrong, write a specific description of the damage on the carrier’s delivery receipt — not just "damaged" — before you sign.
- Photograph the pallet on the truck, the damage close up and the delivery receipt with your notes on it.
- You may refuse a badly damaged shipment. If you do, note the reason on the paperwork and contact us immediately.
- Email jdmotorsofillinois@gmail.com the same day with your order number, the photographs and a copy of the annotated receipt.
For concealed damage that was not visible at delivery, notify us and the carrier as soon as you discover it, keep all packaging and pallet material, and take photographs before moving the unit. We will help you pursue the freight claim.
Shipping charges
Freight is quoted on weight, dimensions, destination and the services required. Where a rate is shown at checkout it is based on the information provided; if the delivery address turns out to require residential delivery, liftgate, limited-access or inside delivery service that was not selected, the carrier’s additional charges are passed through to the buyer.
Address accuracy
Please check your delivery address carefully before completing your order. Carrier charges for address correction, reconsignment, redelivery and storage caused by an incorrect or incomplete address are the buyer’s responsibility. If you need to change an address, contact us immediately at (708) 223-0238 — once a pallet is on a truck, changes are not always possible.
Local pickup
Local pickup is free and available at 3040 S 26th Ave, Unit B, Broadview, IL 60155, Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Saturday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM(708) 223-0238 ahead of time so we can stage your unit. Bring a vehicle or trailer rated for the load and your own straps; our team will help you load. Bring your order confirmation and photo identification.
Title and risk
Risk of loss passes to the buyer when the shipment is handed to the carrier or, for local pickup, when the unit is loaded onto the buyer’s vehicle. We remain available to help you pursue any carrier claim.
